Deze filmmiddag wordt georganiseerd in samenwerking met de Ambassade van de Republiek Litouwen in Den Haag.
TO COMMEMORATE THE MOURNING AND HOPE DAY IN LITHUANIA
One of the most ambitious Lithuanian productions of recent years, THE EXCURSIONIST is an inspiring true story taken from a dark period in the nation’s history.
After World War II, Europe was divided in two parts and the state of Lithuania found itself on the Eastern side of the Iron Curtain. The Stalin’s regime quickly broke the traditional way of Lithuanian life, it cruelly suppressed any resistance. Hundreds of thousands of Lithuanians were deported to Siberian concentration camps in the North and East of Russia.
This film is based on really incredible true story of 11 years old girl from Baltic's, who escaped exile prisoners Trans-Siberian train on the way to Gulag in 50-ties and made her 6.000 km long and dangerous, full of adventures way back home, to Lithuania, to her Motherland.
This is a film about hope and destiny, love and friendship, and immeasurable humanity of people.
